DIRECTOR MICHELE PLACIDO TO RECEIVE 2022 “CAPRI MASTER OF CINEMATIC ART”. THE ANNUAL EVENT FROM DECEMBER 26TH TO JANUARY 2ND

NAPLES, Dec. 04 – Michele Placido has been awarded the “Master of Cinematic Art” prize of the 27th ‘Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival,’ which kicks off Dec. 26.
The award, announced by U.S. producer Mark Canton (of the event’s Honorary Board) will be presented to the director and actor at the Mercadante Theater in Naples on the final evening of Jan. 2, 2023.

“A career spanning 50 years, from cinema to theater: Michele Placido is an authentic pillar of Italian art in the world,” says Toni Lorusso Petruzzi, president of the Capri in the World Institute, “he is the protagonist of the season in theaters: a director with the great production ‘L’ombra di Caravaggio’ and extraordinary interpreter of ‘Orlando’ directed by Daniele Vicari. The award for masters of cinematic art given to him by our board is in addition to that already announced to director Liliana Cavani, two great personalities that we will have the pleasure of celebrating on the stage of the prestigious National Theater of Naples directed by Roberto Andò.”

In the past edition, the “Master of Cinematic Art” went to three-time Oscar winners Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo, Pupi Avati, and Toni Servillo.

Honorary presidents of the Capri in the World Institute are Tony Renis and Israeli artist Noa. Among the awards already announced: best film and best European cast to Mario Martone’s “Nostalgia” (a work nominated by Italy for an Oscar for the best foreign film), the best cast of the year to Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther – Wakanda Forever,” and the Italian-American of the Year award to actor Frank Grillo for “Lamborghini – The Man Behind The Legend” (topping the charts on U.S. digital platforms).

From Dec. 26, as tradition, Capri, Hollywood will open the international awards season by bringing to the azure isle and the Gulf of Naples protagonists of world showbiz and great Italian cinema, previews, and reviews open to the public with the support of the DG Cinema and Audiovisual of the MiC and the Campania Region together with Intesa Sanpaolo, Terna, Givova, Rs Productions.
